ALTON  S. TOBEY

  The Curvilinear Paintings
(continued)

This page contains more images of paintings in the Curvilinear style pioneered by Alton Tobey. The evolution of the style is visible while retaining the content Tobey was developing, especially his interest in music, science and nature. Directly below are musically themed images of dancers, musicians, and performers. The heavy use of string instruments virtually anticipates superstring theory, positing a world where six additional dimensions of the universe may come into view, and things may indeed look like curving lines of writhing energy.
